# Hit your Claude limit mid-task? Keep going in Codex.

ShellTeam is a computer of your own for the coding agents you already pay for. When one runs out, you switch the same conversation to another one and the whole thread comes with it. Everything they build keeps running at a real HTTPS address, and you can drive it all from your phone. We set up the machine and keep it updated, so it is not one more server to look after. Flat $19/mo, or self-host it free.

- Runs Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity and OpenCode, on your own subscriptions, switchable mid-conversation.
- Bring your own AI plan. No token markup. 100% open source (AGPL-3.0).
- [Get a managed computer ($19/mo)](https://shellteam.sh/#signup) · [Try it live, 30 minutes](https://shellteam.sh/try) · Self-host: `curl -fsSL https://shellteam.sh/install | bash`

## What we keep reading

Every morning we read the Reddit and Hacker News threads of people running Claude Code and Codex. Over the last 25 days, usage limits came up on 23 of them, and losing the whole context when switching agents on 17.

> "i kept on reaching my weekly limit on Monday on my 200$ sub, and I have to wait until friday each time." ([r/ClaudeCode](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1whpvdt/after_2y_with_claude_i_tried_astra/))

Out of Claude? Switch the conversation to Codex or OpenCode on the plan you also have, and keep working.

> "if one reached its usage limit, I have to copy the context to another account to continue the conversation." ([Hacker News](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49973683))

No copying. ShellTeam rewrites the conversation into the other agent's own session format, so it picks up exactly where the first one stopped.

> "I can see the appeal, but I'm still trying to understand if the gains are worth having another machine to maintain." ([r/ClaudeAI](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeAI/comments/1wzhgi3/does_anyone_here_run_claude_on_an_247_vps_what_do/))

Fair. That is the $19: we provision it, wire the address and TLS, and ship the updates.

## Your agent needs a computer. A sandbox isn't one.

Claude and Codex will now run tasks in their own cloud, and for a quick fix on a repo that is genuinely good. But those sessions are sandboxes that reset: a fresh machine each time, installs that vanish, a database that is gone by morning, no address anyone can visit, no shell.

| Laptop or sandbox | On your own computer |
|---|---|
| Every session starts from scratch | Your files and state are still there tomorrow |
| It lives at localhost:3000, or nowhere | Every build is already at an HTTPS address |
| A database that dies with the session | Databases and services stay up for months |
| One agent per sandbox | Claude Code, Codex and more, one conversation |
| A weekend of ssh, tmux, nginx, TLS | Arrives configured. Ten minutes |

## What you get

- **One limit is not the end of the day.** Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity and OpenCode in one cockpit, signed in to your own subscriptions. Switch mid-conversation and the whole thread comes with it.
- **Everything gets a live URL.** Every page, chart or app your agents build is already at an HTTPS address you can open from any device, and share when you choose to.
- **Your phone is a terminal.** Voice notes, pasted screenshots, and a real shell, on a phone screen.
- **No markup on the AI.** The agents run on the Claude or ChatGPT plan you already pay for. We charge $19 for the machine.
- **A real machine, not a sandbox.** Passwordless sudo. Let the agents run without approval prompts, on a computer that is not your laptop. Install anything, keep a database up, point your own domain at it.
- **Always on.** The work continues on the box, not in a browser tab.

Self-host on any Ubuntu or Debian server: `curl -fsSL https://shellteam.sh/install | bash`, or tell your agent: "Install ShellTeam on this server, following https://github.com/sebderhy/shellteam/blob/main/INSTALL.md".

## FAQ

**Claude and Codex can already run tasks in the cloud. Why this?** Those sessions are sandboxes, not machines: a fresh checkout each time, installs gone next session, no database or service that survives, no public URL, no shell. Use both; your box is where the project lives.

**Why not rent a VPS and install this myself?** You can, for free. The $19 buys the weekend you would otherwise spend: a provisioned box, a real address with TLS, and updates that land without you.

**Does my Claude Code login work on a server?** Yes. Run the same sign-in once from the browser terminal. No API key needed.

**What do I need to bring?** One AI subscription: Claude (Anthropic) or ChatGPT (OpenAI), from $20/mo.

**Can I move my current project over?** It is a real machine, so it is a git clone. Bring your dotfiles and environment file too.

**Is my stuff safe?** Your box is yours alone. Everything stays on it; nothing phones home. Any engineer can verify the code.
